The Arafura Wind Ensemble comprises approximately twenty-five to thirty-five musicians who come together from all walks of life to enjoy community music making.
True to its original charter, AWE provides an avenue for all musicians in the Darwin, Palmerston and Litchfield communities, to play a wide range of music - from the classics to Broadway, popular and traditional, jazz to marches.
The Arafura Wind Ensemble Inc. performs for the community, corporate events and also in collaboration with other arts groups such as the Darwin City Brass Band, the Darwin Symphony Orchestra and the Australian Army Band Darwin.
